Preparing files for Epic Design & Print
Start with the product template or finished size shown on your order. Send the highest-quality original artwork you have, and tell us if you need design help. Our team reviews files before production and will flag anything that may affect print quality.
Choose the right file
A print-ready PDF is best for most business cards, flyers, brochures, labels, and other cut paper products. We can also review AI, EPS, PSD, JPG, and PNG files. For editable vector art, outline fonts and embed linked images. If you use our online designer, review its final preview carefully before ordering.
Size and image quality
Build artwork at the final trim size plus any required bleed. Use high-resolution images at their actual printed size; 300 PPI is a useful target for close-viewed print pieces. A small web image does not gain detail when enlarged or when its DPI number is changed. Large banners and signs may use a different resolution at final size, so ask us about the product before exporting.
Bleed, trim, and safe area
For products trimmed to size, extend backgrounds and edge-to-edge images 1/8 inch beyond each trim edge unless the product template says otherwise. Keep text, logos, and other essential details inside the template’s safe area. Avoid thin borders close to the cut edge because normal trimming variation can make them look uneven. Use the product template when available; it takes priority over this general guide.
Color, black, and finishing
CMYK is preferred for standard full-color paper printing. RGB screen colors may shift in print. For a critical brand color, provide a reference and ask about a physical proof or sample. Keep small black text as solid black where practical; ask us before using a rich-black mix for large dark areas. If the job includes folding, scoring, holes, spot coating, or a special cut, mark those elements separately and confirm the template before submission.
Two-sided files and approval
Supply front and back in the correct orientation, with clear page names. Check names, dates, spelling, dimensions, and placement on your proof. Production uses the approved version. If you request changes, review the revised proof before it prints.
